AND YOU MOVE

september 2015

The work consists of two separate LED screens, each screen displaying a looping scrolling text. In each screen, the text scrolls in directions opposite to each other. The bottom screen is a looping narrative that describes the movement of a person (you) throughout a house. “You” perform menial mundane tasks, and pass time performing the same actions over and over. Despite the fact the You move from room to room, You don’t go anywhere. The accompanying top screen utters guttural onomatopoeia and nonsense.

The text in the bottom screen reads:

…AND YOU SIT ON THE CHAIR AND YOU GO TO THE KITCHEN AND YOU COME BACK TO THE CHAIR AND YOU STAND UP AND YOU MOVE TO THE LIVING ROOM AND YOU WALK TO THE BEDROOM AND YOU SIT ON THE  CHAIR AND YOU GO TO THE KITCHEN AND YOU COME BACK TO THE CHAIR…(loops).
